How Does 3/2 Way Pneumatic Solenoid Valve Work?
The two-position and three-way (3/2-way) pneumatic solenoid valve is equipped with three air ports on two positions. The two-position here refers to two different working positions (on, off) of the pneumatic solenoid valve core. It means that the valve core controls different gas passages when the solenoid valve gains power and losses power. The three-port means that the valve body of the pneumatic solenoid valve has three ports, namely A, P and T, of which one (P) is for inlet and two (A & T) are for outlet (one of the outlet is normally-open and the other is normally-closed).
Generally conditions, one port is connected with the air supply. As to the other two ports, one port is connected with the inlet port of the actuating element and another is connected with the exhaust port of the actuating element. To the gas circuit or the liquid circuit, the two-position and three-port solenoid valve has one inlet (connected with the inlet air supply), one outlet (providing gas for target equipment), one exhaust vent (generally installed with a silencer, and if noises do not matter, the exhaust vent can also be uninstalled).
The 2-position and 3-port pneumatic solenoid valve can be divided into the normally-closed mode and the normally-open mode. The 3/2-way pneumatic solenoid valve is usually used together with the single-acting pneumatic actuator, and adopts the single electric control, namely the single coil. The coil voltage grade generally adopts DC 12V, DC 24V, AC 110V, AC 220V, etc.
Working principle of the normally-closed 3/2-way pneumatic solenoid valve
The normally-closed 2-position and 3-way pneumatic solenoid valve means that the gas circuit is off when the coil is not powered on (the inlet and the outlet are shut off), or that A and P are disconnected with power off, A and T are connected with power on.
When powered on, the pneumatic solenoid valve is turned on and the gas circuit also get through. Once the power is off, the pneumatic solenoid valve is turned off and the gas circuit also cut off.
Working principle of the normally-open 3/2-way pneumatic solenoid valve
The normally-open two-position and three-way pneumatic solenoid valve means that the gas circuit is on when the coil is not powered on, or that A and P are connected with power off, A and T are disconnected with power on.
The normally-open pneumatic solenoid valve is on the contrary to the normally closed one. The pneumatic solenoid valve is switched off when energized, while the valve is switched on when de-energized.
